5 Tips to helping your dog live the best life

May 9, 2019

Puppies can be a good companion, but the sad truth is that they will not always be around. The average dog lifespan is 10 to 13 years, although some small breeds can live up to 16 years while some bigger breeds only live up to 7 years. Knowing that, it is only fair that as a pet owner, you help your furry friend live its best life. You want to ensure that your little friend is always taken care of, and below are some helpful tips to consider;

Feed him right

Your furry friend’s diet is as important as that of yours! There are many factors that determine the kind of diet your dog should eat, from activity level, weight, health, size and age. Before feeding him certain foods, always ensure that they are the recommended ones for him because carelessness can cause serious issues to your dog. The best thing to do is to always consult your veterinarian for advice on the types of food to feed him.

Exercise is also important

Exercise goes a long way to not only keeping your dog in shape but also reducing cortisol, the stress hormone, as well as keeping their minds fresh and active. Exercise doesn’t necessarily mean always going to the park, you can always have a walk or playtime in the backyard. Even in its old age, strap him/her with a nice collar from ultimatehomelife.com and a leash and go out for a walk because exercise is indispensable.

Always listen to your vet

If you want your dog to live its best life, then you have to adhere to a regular preventive care routine. Don’t be fooled by how healthy your furry friend looks, if the vet gave you a strict routine to follow then always ensure to stick by it. Always take your dog for checkups every once in a year and as it gets old, visit your vet twice instead of once. This is to get thorough examinations done on your pet and to detect and address any potential problems before they become worse.

Mindfulness

If you thought dogs don’t have feelings, then you thought wrong. Just as humans, dogs do have feelings and also go through emotions and depression. You have to be mindful of your furry friend if you want it to enjoy its life. Pay attention to your dog’s emotions and train yourself how to address them properly. You want your furry friend to steer clear from stress and anxiety, as this also plays a huge role on its old age health.

Cherish all moments

You will without doubt outlive your furry friend, that’s why you need to cherish every moment with him. Treat him right, ensure his health is in check at all times, play with him, bond, and love him because one day he will leave you. You might do little to nothing to control how long he lives but you always have control over how he lives his lifetime!

Love teacups…I am a first time owner. Thinking mix of maltese and shitzu…but not sure what to look for to make sure it is in good health. A breeder contacted me and had what I am looking for…but she said it was the runt…and will be tiny.

Your website impressed me…please contact me. How much too…curious on price.
