How to Treat Your Dog Like a Best Friend It Is

September 15, 2020

As the old saying goes, a dog is a man’s best friend, so why not give them the royal treatment that they deserve? Dogs are, by far, one of the most loyal and friendly furry pets you can own. You can learn a lot from them like discipline and responsibility, but that does not mean you can’t have loads of fun with them, too! Depending on the breed, each dog likes to have fun in their own way. In order to treat your dog like the best friend it is, you need to understand what they like.

Read on below to find some tips and tricks on how to make sure your dog is happy and healthy.

Play and Go for Walks

Unless you chose the world’s laziest dog breed, and there are a couple, most dogs love playing fetch. However, it depends on the time of day, whether they are feeling energized or not, the type of food they have eaten, and so on. Generally, though, dogs love playing with everything, and when you are not looking, they are most likely to be playing with (eating) your shoes. Walks are excellent for your dog too, as sometimes they can have too much pent-up energy, and the walk will get them to calm down a bit. Regular walks also help keep their weight in check and ensure that they stay healthy.

Groom and Spa Day

Dedicate a day every month or so to spoil them a little and take them to a doggy spa. Yes, these exist! You may not find a special spa near you, but many doggy day-care centers have special packages created to groom and massage your pet. Dogs get stressed from time to time, so taking them to a spa will get them relaxed and ready for more walks and playtime. The experts at HoundJunkie explain that the place they sleep in can really affect their muscles and induce cramps, which can, in turn, stress them out. Finding the right bed for them can keep them happy and relaxed, and spa day will be the bonus treat.

Reward Them

One of the things dogs genuinely enjoy is being spoiled and rewarded. Besides the regular grooming and spa visits, dogs love treats, especially after a job well done. If your dog is an active one, they will enjoy learning new tricks, and you will love teaching them. It may take some time and a lot of patience, but at the end of the day, you both get a reward.

Since your dog is your best friend, you’ll want to keep them happy all the time. Research their breed and see what they may or may not like in general. Some pups require more attention while others do not mind staying behind while you run your errands elsewhere. While it can get quite difficult for you to take a huge chunk out of your day to play with your dog, you need to dedicate at least an hour to your furry friend because, at the end of the day, all dogs appreciate the attention, no matter their breed.

Love teacups…I am a first time owner. Thinking mix of maltese and shitzu…but not sure what to look for to make sure it is in good health. A breeder contacted me and had what I am looking for…but she said it was the runt…and will be tiny.

Your website impressed me…please contact me. How much too…curious on price.
