Dog Breeds that Will Keep Their Puppy Look as Adults as Well

Who doesn’t love a cute puppy? Most dog owners wish for their dogs to remain looking like a puppy for as long as possible. We simply adore the appearance and playfulness of a puppy and would like for our dogs to stay that way for the rest of their lives. But, dogs do change as they mature. Most dog breed puppies will turn out looking differently as they reach adulthood.

Still, there are some dog breeds that don’t change that much as they develop. Their appearance and personality suffer few changes, so they end up looking and behaving, most of the time, as puppies even when they are adults. What kind of dog breeds are we talking about? If you are interested in finding out which dog breeds look like puppies even as adults, take a look below.

Maltese

The Maltese is a very popular dog breed due to the fact that it has a soft, hypoallergenic coat that doesn’t shed too much, is easy-going and is very affectionate. It loves being around its owner and sitting on their lap or beside them. So, if you want a dog that acts like velcro and becomes your shadow around the house, the Maltese is definitely the one you’ve been looking for.

The best part about Maltese dogs are they will continue looking like a puppy during their adult years, especially if you give them a puppy cut. As an adult, the Maltese will grow a rather long coat that will need a good amount of attention. If you want to ease your grooming task, giving the dog a cut will help this and will give your maltese that distinctive puppy look.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel will grow in size only slightly as it matures, but its overall look will not undergo too many changes. Its characteristic puppy eyes and easy-going-nature will remain. This is a very joyful dog with large, bright eyes that make it too irresistible. They are highly appreciated for their friendly and calm nature. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel will get along with people of all ages, children, other dogs, and pets as well.

Be sure to make sure that if your cav is around children, they are old enough to treat the dog with respect. Or if you have younger children, you should never allow them to play with the dog unsupervised.

Pomeranian

The Pomeranian will look and behave like a puppy for the rest of its life. This teddy bear dog barely changes anything when it comes to its looks and temperament. It will be just as playful, alert, and energetic even as it ages. Not to mention that its fluffy, teddy bear-like appearance is there to stay, no matter how old the dog gets!

Pomeranians love to play and run around, but they are perfectly capable of staying put or relaxing on your lap. The Pomeranian can be a great watch-dog in spite of its small size, as it will always pay attention to what is happening around it. But, do be careful at its barking behavior, as it can become exaggerated and can end up barking too much.

Poodle

If you want a cute, loving, and low-shedding dog, the Poodle is your best choice. Poodles are highly popular because they barely shed, don’t have that dog odor due to their woollen coat, are very friendly and loving and extremely easy to train. A Poodle can be the ideal family dog, especially in the case of families with small children.

The Poodle will remain looking like a puppy during its adulthood, especially if you get a Miniature or Toy Poodle and cut its coat short. The low-shedding, curly, and soft coat of the Poodle will need proper grooming, so cutting it short will ease your task and give the dog an adorable puppy appearance.

Yorkshire Terrier

The reduced size and looks of this dog makes it highly popular among dog lovers. The Yorkie can be easily transported in a bag, as it is small enough to fit in one. It has a beautiful silky coat that can grow until it reaches the floor. Most Yorkie owners prefer cutting their dog’s coat to reduce the load of daily grooming and maintenance.

The Yorkshire Terrier will love to play and fool around, just like a puppy. But, at the same time, they are known for having big personalities, in contradiction with their small stature. In other words, keep your Yorkie on a leash, as it may not hesitate to challenge much bigger dogs.

Beagle

In spite of the fact that the Beagle is a medium-sized dog, or at least it tends that way, it is more than capable of acting and looking like a puppy. Their adorable faces with those large puppy eyes and floppy ears have managed to win over plenty of adoring fans. Just bear in mind that the Beagle loves good long walks and playing as often as possible. It was bred as a hunting dog breed, so it enjoys staying active.

The Beagle is not aggressive at all and will be a child’s best friend with ease. But, when it comes to other pets, like cats or other animals, you should get your Beagle used to them from an early age. This is due to the fact that it has native chasing instincts and it may want to run them around, just for fun.

Love teacups…I am a first time owner. Thinking mix of maltese and shitzu…but not sure what to look for to make sure it is in good health. A breeder contacted me and had what I am looking for…but she said it was the runt…and will be tiny.

Your website impressed me…please contact me. How much too…curious on price.
