The teddy bear puppy is a relatively new kind of dog that has been around only since the late 1990s. Interestingly, the name teddy bear does not actually refer to one specific breed. The name also is widely used to refer to various hybrids between the different breeds such as Shih Tzu, Toy poodles, Bichon Frise, Cocker Spaniels, Schnauzers, Yorkshire Terries and Daschunds.
